Catalog description

Students will examine the developing child in a societal context focusing on the interrelationship of family, school, and community; emphasis will be on historical and social factors. Patterns of development, child-rearing, and the value of education in contemporary American society will be discussed. The processes of socialization and identity development will be highlighted. Community resources that foster the positive development of the child in the context of the family will be identified. This course meets licensing and permitting requirements for early education settings.
