Catalog description
Students will examine the formation and development of human identity through theories and concepts drawn from counseling, developmental, social, and educational psychology. This course will analyze theoretical frameworks and research methods of identity development, academic self-concept, self-regulation, motivation, and the role of social and cultural environments in identity formation. Students will explore issues of inequality, social justice, and human agency from comparative perspectives, including race and ethnicity, gender, and cultural groups.
