Catalog description

This course will examine the history, evolution, classification, and physiological effects of psychoactive drugs. It will also explore federal and state drug regulations, the complexities of the drug dilemma, legalization issues, and strategies for prevention and reduction. Emphasis will be placed on analyzing the relationships between drug use and social conditions, including violence, crime, socio-status, race, and health.
