Catalog description

This course is a study of the composition, classification, and processing of soils, and the influence of soils on various aspects of construction. Students will apply critical thinking skills, using the scientific method, to study the physical and geological principles of soils and their use in construction, to develop an understanding and appreciation for how the geology of soils influence construction principles. Topics include the physical properties and characteristics of soils and aggregates, soil test ing and classification, evaluation, and testing.
