Catalog description

Students examine in-depth the evidence-based therapies for children and adolescents with internalizing and externalizing concerns. Students critically evaluate major therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, behavioral, person-centered, psychodynamic, family systems, and mindfulness-based interventions, through primary research readings and applied activities. Emphasis is placed on the integration of theory, empirical support, and cultural considerations in treatment planning. Through literature reviews, class presentations, and case-based assessments, students develop the skills needed to identify, evaluate, and apply interventions that are supported by current research and best-practice standards.
