Catalog description

Students examine the causes, dynamics, and consequences of conflict between states and the conditions that promote international peace. Topics may include theories of interstate war onset, crisis bargaining and deterrence, the evolution of modern warfare, and the political, economic, and strategic factors that shape interstate conflict. The course may also explore diplomacy, negotiation, conflict prevention, war termination, and post-conflict peacebuilding. Prerequisite: 6 hours of POLS.
