Media, Sport and Social Impact.

Catalog description

Students analyze the intersection of sports and society through media coverage of sports and the evolution of media technology. Part of that analysis includes understanding of the symbiotic relationships between the sports industry and media outlets, sports and audiences, the ways sports impact politics and social change in the U.S. and the impact of emerging sports media. Students learn through case studies and gain a historical understanding of how and why we have the sports media that we do. Prerequisite: MCSM 1110 and MCOM 1330 .
