Students examine slavery and other forms of unfree labor throughout the Americas and the Atlantic World from the fifteenth through the nineteenth centuries. Topics may include the transatlantic slave trade; Native American slavery; the politics of resistance and revolt; the economics of slavery, abolitionist movements, and comparative processes of emancipation.
