Students examine the history of the Habsburg Empire and its successor states from the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire to the region's integration into the European Union. Topics may include nationalism, democracy, the struggle for women's rights, industrialization, worker's movements, Jewish history, war and political collapse, intellectual history, and/or the Cold War.
