Catalog description

Students explore the complex issues facing the Houston metro area, Southeast Texas, and the larger Gulf region. Students visit sites across the area to discuss energy development, historically underserved neighborhoods, street art and architecture, urban and rural development, and communities impacted by natural disasters and environmental challenges. As part of site visits, students will build relationships with community leaders, government officials, private sector companies, and non-profits. Prerequisite: GEOG 3398 OR POLS 3398 ; Junior standing and approval of the instructor.
