Catalog description

Students learn about issues in the Gulf of Mexico region from multidisciplinary perspectives, including physical science, social science, humanities, and the arts. Students focus on systems thinking, including issues of scale from local to global, to assess environmental, societal, economic, policy, and community-related challenges in the Houston metro area, Southeast Texas, and the broader Gulf region. Readings, discussion, and undergraduate research methods are emphasized. Prerequisite: Junior standing and approval of the instructor.
