Catalog description

Students study descriptive, applied, and contrastive linguistics as applied to the French language. The course examines phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics of French, including historical development and dialectal variations. Students analyze linguistic phenomena within Francophone communities and consider how this knowledge relates to a variety of professional contexts, strengthening both analytical and cultural skills for workforce readiness. Instruction is in French. Prerequisite: FREN 3301 or Department Permission.
