Catalog description

Students examine current concepts and research regarding the anatomy and physiology of the horse as an athlete, and physiological changes that occur during the fitness and conditioning of horses for athletic endeavors. Topics include but are not limited to anatomy and physiology of various systems relevant to exercise, adaptation of systems to conditioning, biomechanics of locomotion, methods for conditioning various classes of horses, diseases and medications relevant to exercising horses, and management of the horse as an athlete. Prerequisite: EQSC 2364 .
