Catalog description

Students examine selected works and movements in American literature from the colonial period to the Civil War. Students explore critical issues such as the histories of discovery and conquest, nations and empire, race and slavery, and gender and sexuality. Topics will vary. May be repeated once with permission of department Chair. Prerequisite: Graduate Standing.
