Catalog description

Students examine sophisticated analytical methods, approaches, and technologies for handling large-scale data characterized by exceptional volume, velocity, and variety. Topics may include the categories and attributes of big data, adaptable storage solutions, cost-effective processing strategies, emerging technologies, and research directions. Through practical exercises in collecting, archiving, manipulating, visualizing, and evaluating big data, students develop big data analysis and data science skills using open-source pipeline frameworks, programming tools and libraries, and their ecosystems. Prerequisite: Graduate Standing.
