Catalog description

Students work with neonatologists who care for neonatal patients with the most serious disease processes in the intensive care setting. The experience may include neonatal nursery, hospital, and emergency department consultations and deliveries in the operating room. Students engage with patients to collect data, perform physical examinations, and work with their attending physician to reason through differential diagnoses and generate a plan for management of patients requiring intensive care due to need for oxygenation, ventilation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, arterial monitoring, multiple intravenous infusions, intravascular infusions requiring titration, continuous renal replacement therapy, and other highly-skilled interventions. Prerequisite: CLIN 7425 .
