Catalog description

Students act as an intern on an inpatient orthopedics service to provide care for hospitalized patients who require or who have undergone orthopedic surgery. The experience may include inpatient admissions and/or consultations and intensive care. Students collect and report a complete patient history and physical exam, order and interpret laboratory data and other studies, clinically reason and develop a differential diagnosis independently, present new and existing patients during hospital rounds to upper level house officers and Attendings, work with a medical team to generate a plan for management of hospitalized patients, participate in surgical interventions, work in a medical team environment to perform daily duties, and behave professionally as a part of the medical team. Credit: Variable, 1-4 hours. Prerequisite: CLIN 7802 .
