Catalog description

Students act as an intern in an emergency department to provide care for patients with acute, serious illness. The experience may include consultations and intensive care. Students collect and report a complete patient history and physical exam, order and interpret laboratory data and other studies, clinically reason and develop a differential diagnosis independently, present new and existing patients during emergency department rounds to upper level house officers and Attendings, work with a medical team to generate a plan for management of acute patients in the emergency department, work in a medical team environment to perform daily duties, and behave professionally as a part of the medical team. Credit: Variable, 1-4 hours. Prerequisite: CLIN 7403 .
