Catalog description

Students investigate key concepts in molecular biology and biochemical processes of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells and their viruses. Topics include the detailed examination of genes and chromosomes, as well as the mechanisms of DNA replication, repair, and recombination. Additional topics may include regulation of gene expression, transcription, RNA processing, RNA interference, translation, protein folding and modification, as well as the relevant techniques used to study these biological processes. Prerequisite: Minimum grade of a C in BIOL 3450 , BIOL 3470 , and CHEM 2323 .
