Catalog description

Students synthesize knowledge gained through in-depth research and creative investigation to produce original works of art. Through instructor-selected topics reflecting current trends, challenges, and innovations in the field, students analyze conceptual and technical frameworks, apply advanced methods and skills, and evaluate artistic solutions within real-world or experimental contexts. Emphasis is placed on critical analysis, technical proficiency, and the integration of conceptual understanding into creative practice. Specific course content may vary by term depending on the designated area of specialization. Variable Credit (1–3). (This course may be taken for Academic Distinction credit. See Academic Distinction Program in this catalog.) Course Equivalents: ARTS 4319 Prerequisite: 6 hours of credit in the area of investigation, with permission of the instructor and department chair.
