Catalog description

Students focus on additional skill development in listening, speaking, reading and writing, and/or cultural knowledge with insights and perspective via the viewpoint and linguistic expression of Arabic speakers. Students describe the linguistic and cultural ramifications of historical, political, social, and economic situations in the region with some comparison among Arabic-speaking countries. Topics may include contemporary social developments, political reforms, religious movements, and regional conflicts. Instruction may be in Arabic or English.
