This course explores the history of African-Americans from slavery to freedom, beginning with the slave trade and concluding with the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950's and 1960's through Black Lives Matter. Other topics include slave religions, abolitionism, the Harlem Renaissance, and Jim Crow apartheid. Offered every semester.
