Catalog description
By 1865, the US was a wounded but transforming nation. lts economy had become a powerhouse with a changing workforce of immigrants and former slaves. This era's literature chronicles these shifts, often from the perspective of the most exploited citizens. ln this class, students will engage multimedia texts from America's Gilded Age, gaining a deep understanding of this turbulent time and a new perspective on our present, which is often called the Second Gilded Age.
