Catalog description
This course offers an overview of the history and philosophical foundations of the American correctional system. Emphasis is placed on how the theories of retribution, deterrence, incapacitation, and rehabilitation affect current issues such as overcrowding, social control in prison, legal rights of prisoners and alternatives to incarceration. Offered fall and spring.
