Listening and Speaking for Multilingual Learners I
Saint Louis Community College · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Listening and Speaking for Multilingual Learners I is designed for non-native speakers of English who need to develop listening and speaking skills to prepare for college-level courses. Students improve their ability to communicate and be understood, gain familiarity with phonemes, word stress, intonation patterns, articulation, and vowel sounds in English, and use these skills in discussions, short talks, and presentations. In addition, students listen to short spoken passages from a variety of disciplines, speeches, and short talks with an emphasis on beginning note-taking strategies and techniques as well as models for spoken English.
