Playwriting Workshop: New Play Festival

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of dramatic writing through the creation of original theatrical works. Students explore character development, dialogue construction, dramatic structure, and contemporary theatrical forms while developing their unique artistic voice. The course culminates in the New Works Festival, where student plays receive professionally produced staged readings under the guidance of faculty and guest artists. Students gain practical experience in script revision, collaboration with directors and actors, and presenting work to public audiences.
