In this course we explore the worldviews and lessons about human experience conveyed by Spanish medieval short narratives and fairy tales. Basic topics are: differences between medieval and contemporary stories; cultural and ideological functions of a tale; the interplay of different cultures; gender roles; and the popularity of certain motifs.
