In this course, students explore one of the most significant genres of 20th-century Spanish-American literature: el Testimonio. Testimony is a hybrid genre that moves across the borders of the novel, biography, or autobiography, as well as diverse disciplines such as literature, anthropology, sociology, or journalism. Throughout the course, we will discuss topics such as the problematic relationship between fiction and reality, identity, political commitment, the figure of the "author", the "subaltern" and the relations of power. Taught in Spanish. Only offered in Madrid.
