SPAN 3370
Latin(o) American Storytelling Traditions
Saint Louis University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Latin American writers have moved modern storytelling into new and exciting directions, with innovations that propelled Latin American fiction into the forefront of world literature. This course delves into that rich world of storytelling --a trove of myths, legends, and oral histories as well as short stories and sometimes novels-- at the same time as it provides an introduction to critical approaches to Latin American culture and history, as well as literature. In this course we will explore the possibilities of reading these stories for pleasure while also refining writing, oral and critical reading skills in Spanish. Taught in Spanish.
