Catalog description

Students will examine characteristics of linguistic and cultural diversity across the United States and beyond. Course content emphasizes issues of communication associated with race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, age, physical and mental capacities, and religion. Considerations when working with multilingual clients as a rehabilitation professional will also be considered. Students will conduct sociolinguistic research investigating individuals or groups linguistically within social systems.
