Catalog description

This elective provides fourth-year medical students with an advanced, focused experience in pediatric radiology, building upon their foundational knowledge of diagnostic imaging. Students will be exposed to a diverse range of pediatric imaging studies across various modalities including plain film, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, CT, and MRI. The elective emphasizes understanding the unique anatomical and physiological characteristics of children, tailoring imaging techniques to minimize radiation exposure (following the ALARA principle), and interpreting imaging findings within the context of pediatric-specific diseases and conditions. Students will actively participate in the diagnostic process alongside pediatric radiology faculty developing skills in image interpretation, consultation with referring physicians, and understanding the role of imaging in the multidisciplinary care of pediatric patients.
