Catalog description
This course provides an advanced examination of job analysis, employee selection, and the design of legally defensible and equitable staffing systems. Students will learn to develop and evaluate comprehensive selection systems by linking job requirements to work-related characteristics and aligning those characteristics with reliable and valid assessment tools. Emphasis is placed on content validation, criterion-related validation, adverse impact analysis, and the ethical and legal responsibilities associated with personnel selection. Students will apply statistical methods to evaluate predictors, interpret selection data, and design structured decision-making strategies that balance effectiveness, fairness, and organizational impact. Through applied projects, students will construct and defend a complete selection system—from job analysis through hiring decisions—grounded in professional standards and SIOP competencies.
