This course introduces students to how political scientists design research projects, with an emphasis on applying methods to real political questions. Building on concepts from POLS 2001 , students will learn how to design studies, collect and interpret data, and evaluate the strengths and limitations of different research approaches. The course covers experiments, surveys, case studies, interviews, mixed-method designs, and regression-based statistical analysis using statistical software. By the end of the semester, students will have the skills to critically assess existing research and develop their own research designs grounded in the scientific study of politics.
