Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine

Catalog description

This elective for Year 4 medical students is a combination of outpatient pulmonary clinics at Cardinal Glennon. These clinics consist of a standard pediatric pulmonary clinic in addition to our weekly multi-disciplinary Cystic Fibrosis clinic. In addition to outpatient clinics, there are opportunities to perform inpatient consults with the on-service pulmonary attending. The student will also have the opportunity to work with the pulmonary function laboratory and become familiar with the clinical utility and interpretation of pulmonary diagnostics testing. They will also attend bronchoscopies and learn the basics of flexible bronchoscopy and airway anatomy. For outside students not familiar with Cardinal Glennon, there are opportunities to attend inpatient rounds with the pulmonary team, however, it is not a requirement of the rotation.
