Catalog description

This course provides Physician Assistants in the Doctor of Medical Science (DMS) program with foundational and advanced knowledge in Lifestyle Medicine. Students will explore the role of lifestyle interventions—nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and social connectedness—in preventing, treating, and even reversing chronic disease. Through evidence-based practice, reflective learning, and case-based applications, learners will develop the skills needed to integrate Lifestyle Medicine into clinical practice, patient education, and healthcare systems. The curriculum emphasizes practical approaches to patient-centered counseling, motivational interviewing, behavior change strategies, and interprofessional collaboration to promote sustainable health outcomes.
