Service Leadership and Professional Advocacy

Catalog description

This doctoral course explores the power of service-oriented leadership and professional advocacy as critical components of the Physician Assistant’s role in advancing healthcare equity, access, and excellence. Designed for new graduate PAs, experienced clinicians, and PA educators, the course emphasizes the responsibility of healthcare leaders to serve their communities, uplift the profession, and influence the systems in which they work. Students will examine the principles of servant leadership, civic engagement, health policy, grassroots and organizational advocacy. The course encourages learners to engage in reflective practice, identify areas for community impact, and build the knowledge and confidence to serve as public voices for the PA profession and the patients they represent.
