Clinical: Obstetrics and Gynecology

Catalog description

This clerkship involves active participation in patient care in obstetrics and gynecology to include prenatal and gynecologic care. It is a hands-on experience emphasizing patient history, physical exam, assessment, and plan within a framework of disease processes and therapeutics. It includes determination of labs/imaging/diagnostics to order, interpretation of those results, and understanding their impact on the differential diagnosis. It also includes development of detailed and effective patient treatment and management plans, medical documentation, and oral patient presentations. The focus is on effective and meaningful patient interaction, understanding the medical decision-making process, and functioning as an essential part of the Ob/Gyn team.
