AT Clinical Practicum III

Catalog description
This is the third clinical course for the athletic training student. Expanding on prior coursework and experience, students will be assigned to a clinical site in the physician practice setting. The student will be required to interact with patients from diverse populations to address conditions that affect a variety of health conditions (including but not limited to: eyes, ears, nose, throat, mouth/teeth, respiratory system, cardiac system, skin, gastro-intestinal tract, nervous system, and musculoskeletal system). Didactic content will include foundations of imaging used in informing general medical and musculoskeletal condition evaluation and diagnoses. Virtual “check-ins” with the coordinator of clinical education are an essential component of this experience to ensure student learning and professional skill development. an emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking skill development, the student will be expected to take a more active role when providing athletic health care to the injured athletes.
