Catalog description

This foundational course provides graduate athletic training students with an essential understanding of pain mechanisms and tissue healing processes for evidence-informed clinical practice. Students will explore contemporary pain science, including nociception, pain modulation, and the biopsychosocial model of pain experience, alongside the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying musculoskeletal tissue injury and repair. Emphasis is placed on translating pain science and tissue healing processes into patient-centered care strategies appropriate for athletic training practice.
