Catalog description
This course provides students with hands-on experience in conducting a jury trial, covering all phases from jury selection to closing argument. Coursework is divided into three components: 1. Small Group Meetings - Students participate in weekly session, practicing trial skills based on the course textbook and Online Advocacy Lectures. 2. Independent Study & Workshops - Students are responsible for reviewing, analyzing and summarizing Online Advocacy Lectures to reinforce their understanding of trial techniques. Additionally all advocacy students will attend workshops designed to develop a shared approach to fundamental aspects of courtroom advocacy. 3. Final Trial - Students will conduct a full simulated trial, presenting their cases before juries composed of SLU Law students.
