Catalog description

This course will survey the various circumstances in which individuals are present in the United States without authorization, how they typically become undocumented, the administrative, civil removal process prescribed under the Immigration and Nationality Act and various defenses available to the government’s attempt to remove an individual from the United States. This course will be taught with a particular emphasis on issues of detention of individuals in removal proceedings as well as asylum, cancellation of removal and other relief that may be available before the immigration courts.
