Interprofessional Collaboration and Healthcare in Global Context

Catalog description
This course is designed to introduce and develop the knowledge, skills, behaviors of effective collaboration and interprofessional teamwork. There is also a core thread of developing one’s professional identity in the context of healthcare and care teams working on the shared goals of the Quadruple Aim in Healthcare. This course provides students with foundational skills and behaviors in effective teamwork and collaboration that will be further applied in IPE and profession-specific courses. Also, students are introduced to an overview of the influence of U.S. healthcare policy in shaping the structure, quality, financing, access, and safety of the healthcare environment while comparing to systems in a global context. Students will work collaboratively to develop an understanding of policy and advocacy and how to address barriers to equitable, quality healthcare to improve care and outcomes.
