Catalog description

A cultural critique of the idea of otherness in French literature and culture, from the 18th to the 21st Centuries. Works can include novels, short stories, and essays from authors such as de Graffigny, Diderot, Mérimée, Camus, and Djebar; and a discussion of visual representations, such as the "exotic" in French art, is included. Taught in French.
