Emergency Medicine Ultrasound and Clinical Decision-Making

Point-of-care clinical ultrasonography is an important diagnostic tool in the evaluation of patients presenting to the emergency department and in critically ill patients. This course is intended to provide an introduction to point-of-care clinical ultrasound. The course will be two to four weeks in duration. In this course, you will learn how to use the ultrasound to evaluate both medical and trauma patients. You will be introduced to the basic function of the ultrasound machine, proper probe & test selection, basic ultrasound physics, proper ultrasound exam performance, and interpretation of imaging results in the clinical context. This course will set a foundation for further developing your clinical decision making skills with reinforcement of core clinical concepts.
