Equity and Economics in Education: Inequality in American Schools

Catalog description

This is an interactive course on the most controversial policy debates in American education today. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in American education and discuss/debate ideas with their colleagues. The goals of the course are to expose students to education policy issues from a variety of perspectives and the process of formulating evidence-based opinions. Students will interact with educational research on topics including teacher labor markets, accountability and standardized testing, school choice policies, and post-secondary access and success.
