The solution the of 3-D elastic wave equation due to a point seismic source in a plane layered halfspace will be developed using concepts of Green's functions, moment tensors, and dislocation theory. Cagniard-de Hoop and wave number integration techniques will be introduced to compute synthetic seismograms for determining the source depth and moment tensor as well as Earth structure.
