This course provides an in-depth examination of human nutrition, focusing on the biochemical and physiological aspects of nutrient metabolism from the cellular level to the whole organism. Topics include the detailed metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins, as well as the digestion, absorption, transport, function, and excretion of nutrients. The course will also cover nutrient deficiencies, toxicities, and the regulatory mechanisms that govern nutrient homeostasis. Students will analyze the interrelationships between nutrients and their roles in maintaining health, supporting growth, and preventing metabolic disorders.
