Introduces students to the major movements in art in Europe and the United States from the 1850s to the 1960s. Beginning with an analysis of Realism and Impressionism, the course proceeds through the major twentieth-century movements, including Expressionism, Cubism, Abstraction, Dada, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, and Minimalism.
