Catalog description

This course focuses on improving students’ mastery of the reading and critical inquiry skills necessary for success in graduate school. These skills include identifying and summarizing main ideas and supporting details, recognizing patterns of cohesion, understanding implications and inferences, evaluating sources and arguments, synthesizing information, and applying field-specific vocabulary. Through academic readings, students will learn in-depth methods of applying reading concepts and critical thinking skills to graduate-level texts. Prerequisite: 2.50 semester GPA in Level 4 or equivalent.
