Catalog description
This course prepares students to become active members of American graduate-level courses by exploring the differing cultural contexts that influence individual communication. Through readings and discussions of communicative theories and case studies, students will understand how cultural similarities and differences can affect individual interactions. Students will apply critical thinking skills, communicate precise meaning in speech and writing, and develop note-taking skills. Through course readings, research, writing and oral presentations and discussions, students further develop their academic and language skills necessary for university success at the graduate level. Prerequisite: 2.50 semester GPA in Level 4 or equivalent.
